Ten of us met for lunch at La Taverne du Parvis, in Coutances, before the racing.
After a lovely lunch and pleasant conversation, nine of us headed off to Les Unelles for an afternoon at the races.
We were joined by another six people for the racing event and we spent the afternoon recklessly betting (with no risk whatsoever of losing the shirts off our backs!) and seeing who could win the most!
Everyone started off with 1000 points and the lead changed with every race. The excitement rose as we went into the final race with some very large bets being placed in the high stakes finish!
Norman finished a couple of lengths behind with 16,700 points and also received a medal.
Half way through we had a short break for tea and some lovely home-made cakes (my favourite was the chocolate one, although the flapjacks, and ginger cake were equally delicious!).
Our thanks to our two “bookies”, Janet and Kerry, who had the hardest job of the day working out the figures!
All in all, a fun afternoon and one that may well be repeated…
