September 21st 2011
We were lucky to have a very pleasant September day for our last walk of this season.
Seven of us met at the carpark to the bird sanctuary near Geffosses and we were later joined by two other members for a very enjoyable walk through this special sanctuary.
There were flora and fauna in abundance in the way of wild flowers, mushrooms and toadstools, cows, ducks, egrets and other wading birds, but we were slightly disappointed not to see more bird varieties, despite keeping as quiet as possible at the various observation posts along the way!
After a brisk walk back to the cars we were very hungry and we were definitely not disappointed with the excellent lunch provided at Le Pierrefeu in Anneville. We received a very friendly welcome and delicious home-made food in pleasant surroundings and convivial company, nicely rounded off by a few people joining Peter for coffee at his home.
This was a lovely day and we hope that more of you will join us when we start up again next spring. We have plenty more ideas for some interesting and different walks and Normandy is full of restaurants providing good value lunch-time specials.
I look forward to seeing you at some of our winter season events.
