Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Street Party – 2nd June 2012

It was a wonderful sunny day for our street party celebrations chez nous.

The flags and bunting marked the occasion as being special; along with a larger than life queen, kindly painted by Liz Francis.

Forty-one guests gathered to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s reign. Young and more senior, British and French, we all joined in to supply, and eat, a mouthwatering array of both savoury and sweet dishes.

Appetites sated, there was the opportunity to play some games. We also had some activities to raise money for our charity CSF Basse Normandy, and the guess the weight of the cake, generously made and donated by Jill Purslow, was won by Peter and Jane McClure.

The person who was the nearest in guessing the number of sweets in the jar was Kerry Miller, much to his delight!

The amount raised was a very gratifying 159.80 euros.
As Lou Reed so beautifully put it, it was “such a perfect day and I’m glad I spent it with you!”
